Our goal is to bring delicious, small-batch, artisan coffee into your home for you to drink and enjoy every day. That’s it, really.
We carefully select interesting coffees from around the world, looking for beans with surprising and delightful flavors. We then roast the coffee in small batches, paying close attention to the type of beans and choosing a roast profile that’s exactly right to bring out the best in the coffee.
Why bother with all the effort and attention to detail? Because it makes a difference! There is magic in craft coffee and we want everyone to experience it. We really believe that attention to art and detail makes for better coffee.
Our name, Prairie School, takes its inspiration from the art and architectural movement by the same name, birthed right here in our hometown of Oak Park, IL. (Read more about what inspires us) The Prairie School movement prized the sensory experience and artfulness over mass-production and profit.
We think that once you’ve sampled the fruity goodness of a single-origin Ethiopian coffee or the cocoa + brown sugar notes of a small-estate Columbian, you’ll feel the difference.
